Impression Digital – Office Relocation & WiFi Solution

Company Background

With offices in both Nottingham and London, Impression is a multi award winning team of digital marketing experts who create intelligent, integrated creative marketing campaigns for their customers. This includes services such as pay per click (PPC) and search engine optimisation (SEO) management and web design and development.

Founded in 2012, Impression has rapidly expanded from two founding members into a large team that boasts a plethora of clients across multiple different industries, both in the UK and overseas.

The challenge

Due to their consistent success, the Impression team was at a point where they had outgrown their existing office space. They needed more desk space and meeting rooms plus better facilities to accommodate their ever-growing digital team.

When considering moving office(s), many organisations’ first thoughts are arranging removal vans and dismantling office furniture. The importance of the IT and telecoms within the organisation is often overlooked. Before choosing new premises, it is sensible to find out what connectivity options are available, whether there is structured data cabling in place and whether there is a dedicated room/location for your IT equipment that will be practical and secure.

Having used Pyranet before, and hearing positive feedback from mutual clients, Impression recognised the importance of getting IT specialists on-board to help with their office move to ensure a smooth transition.

The approach

For continuity purposes, we assigned one of our Field Engineers, Marc, to this project as he had previously carried out some tasks for Impression. We believe that this approach allows an engineer to go into a task with prior knowledge of the organisation (and the way it is set up), whilst strengthening their relationship with the organisation and its staff.

First, we installed a cloud managed wireless solution that would cover the entire office, as most users connect to the network wirelessly. We then created separate networks: one for Impression staff, one for the staff of their tenant, Distinct Recruitment, who share their office space and one for both of their guests to secure the individual networks.

It was important that the network was set up with redundancy and resiliency to limit any potential downtime, not only for Impression and their staff, but also for their clients. With this in mind, we implemented stacked switches, where the network load was spread across them. We also installed redundant routers and an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) to ensure that Impression and their tenant benefitted from a highly available solution.

Finally, after delays and issues with the connectivity supplier, we offered advice and support to get Impression up and running on multiple 3G/4G connections whilst they waited for their leased line to go live. This meant that Impression’s new office was ready to use from day one without causing disruption to the business. Our support team were also on hand to provide support following the installation.

The outcome

With the new IT solutions in place and the support of the Pyranet team, Impression is now thriving in their new office on King Street, in the heart of Nottingham’s city centre. They are also benefitting from the additional space and an excellent network that is redundant, resilient and efficient. The IT solutions that we have put in place are scalable, which makes it easy for the company to accommodate growth.

It was important for Impression to get their IT setup right to help fulfill their own ambitions, as well as allowing their tenant, Distinct Recruitment, to work without issues.  With the solutions that we recommended and implemented we have enabled two companies to move office seamlessly and continue with their good work.
